Chondrus crispus is commonly known as Irish moss or carrageen moss. It is a species of red algae that grows abundantly along the rocky parts of the Atlantic coast of Europe and North America.
what does it do?
Chondrus crispus is a nutrient rich seaweed that contains the pigment beta-carotene and potent antioxidants zeaxanthin and lutein, which help protect skin from the visible effects of blue light exposure.
Irish moss, contains proteins, vitamin A, sugar, starch, vitamin B1, iron, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, and calcium.
The natural polysaccharides, peptides, and amino acids in chondrus crispus also fuel skin’s hydration while its many antioxidants help shield skin from damaging airborne pollutants and fight the signs of aging.
Furthermore, chondrus crispus contains a compound known as carrageenan, which forms a flexible film on skin that offers further defense against environmental stressors.
